LiL MC is a Bay Area based MC Singer/Songwriter who has been quickly raising her profile on the local and even international music scene due to her exciting live performances, impassioned music and bold presence. Born and raised in the small beach town of Half Moon Bay, LiL MC started making the transition from a well known local Battle Rapper to recording artist with the release of her first solo album, Prey for Gods in 2017. Her album chronicled a lot her personal experiences with trauma, addiction and violence and was produced and recorded at J7 studios, an artist collective and studio in her hometown.
Since the release of her debut album, Lil MC has continued to grow and thrive in the community as a Hip hop educator, event coordinator, comic book creator, and podcaster. She's well known in the San Francisco/Oakland Hip Hop community for her battle rap wins, using witty word play and blatant humor infused insults. She has since used this reputation and social capital to curate and promote Hip Hop events across the Bay Area that are inclusive of the larger artistic community. LiL MC has also hit her stride as a Hip Hop Educator, serving as a senior instructor with the Oakland based non-profit organization Hip Hop for Change, teaching rapping and song writing to students all across the Bay Area.
LiL MC has continued to set her sites on having an international presence. In 2017, she lived, recorded and performed in Bilbao, Spain and is currently partnering with BCD records, a Barcelona based production company to release music. She was also selected to be one of four bilingual Hip Hop educators to facilitate an intensive Hip Hop education program in El Salvador, coaching first-time emcees on lyric writing, song structure and performing.
As a natural performer, LiL MC’s hustle has historically helped her find multiple platforms to showcase her talents and personality. She has grown to stand out on stages with dynamic delivery, sassy wit and intense but inspirational content. She has shared stages as opening support for some Hip Hop heavy weights such as Sa-roc, Sage Francis, Equipto, Blackalicious, Andre Nickatina and Zion I. Because of her battle rap roots, she often judges some of the most prolific Bay Area Hip Hop competitions such as San Francisco’s Return of the Cypher MVP competition, and the Hip Hop Olympics featured at Oakland’s legendary Tourettes Without Regrets. She is also the host of the Ratchet and Woke podcast with collaborator, fellow MC/Producer UnLearn The World, which airs every Monday on Fcc Free Radio from 8pm-10pm.
Her much anticipated sophomore project PunisHer EP Volume 1 was recently released through Urbanlife Distribution and is currently available on all digital streaming platforms. Innovatively, she released her album along with a self published, fully illustrated comic book authored by her, which is the first installation of a three volume series, which will be released with her subsequent EPs.
